Make it simple
I’m very good at making it more complicated for myself.
I want to write more.
What about aiming for a couple of sentences per day? And it could just be to share something that helped me, if I don’t know what to write about. Oh no, the goal is a 1500-word, fully researched article about whatever 3 times a week.
I want to talk more about my work on social media/the internet.
Well, I could probably start by posting a couple of stories a day on Instagram, explaining what we do on the farm? Hm no, but I can make you a fully functional content calendar template on Notion in under 2 hours.
It’s really impressive, how good I can be at creating imaginary road blocks instead of producing the actual work (I don’t think I’m the only one, but I don’t know if I find that reassuring).
And if there is anything I’ve learned in 2021, it’s that starting, actually doing something, is what matters. Sure, that Notion template can be really useful, but if nothing comes of it, then what was the point?
So, in 2022 and after (and I’m really just writing this for myself): make it simple, just start. You can always figure out the rest later.
